CITY OF MEXICO (apro) .- The mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio, warned that there are only 7,700 doses of vaccines against covid-19 in the city, for which he asked the government of his country to use the reserves of the second dose so that more people can be vaccinated.
According to the EFE agency, the mayor announced that they have begun to cancel appointments to vaccinate and definitively suspended plans to carry out the vaccination campaign in the Yankees stadiums and Citi Field.
De Blasio commented that the state has a reserve of 100,000 doses and asked the government to release them. Let’s use what we have right now, because we are already seeing efforts to improve production, he said, and recalled that a delay in the second dose will not affect the effectiveness of vaccines.
The city council declared that it expects to receive between now and tomorrow about 107 thousand doses of vaccines to reschedule postponed appointments. However, the mayor did not recommend planning events like spring weddings and called to wait for the effects of the immunization in the summer.
