With the new mechanism, the government will assign the colors red, yellow or green to different countries, depending on the prevalence of covid-19 within its borders.

At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will lift travel restrictions imposed on March 17, in the middle of a pandemic, for states with a yellow or green rating, and will review these restrictions for all destinations.

According to the BBC television network, Portugal and Sweden are left out of this list of exceptions due to a spike in infections.

Greece, Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Finland, Belgium, Turkey, Germany and Norway are among the countries that do not need quarantine.

In July, the government hopes to reopen cultural venues, hairdressers and hotel establishments, as well as bars and restaurants.

However, managing the confinement relaxation has triggered alarms, as in recent days – marked by an unusual climate – thousands of people have flocked to British beaches and celebrated parties in cities like London and Manchester.

In a joint statement with the police and the City Council, the Liverpool football club today asked supporters to stop meeting to celebrate the championship won this week, as these celebrations were marked by the lack of safety distance.

Spain

The Spanish Ministry of Health recorded three deaths from covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the weekly number to 13 and the total to 28,341, and added 191 new cases of infection, the same ones registered the day before.

According to data from the Ministry, the number of deaths decreased by five, compared to those reported on Friday, while the total number of contagions is 248,469.

Of the 191 new contaminations registered in the last 24 hours, 72 correspond to Catalonia and 36 to Madrid. The rest belong to Aragon (28), Andalusia (18), Castile and Leon (09), Navarra (08), Balearic Islands (06), Galicia and the Basque Country (05), Valencian Community (03) and the Canary Islands (01).

In the last week, the Community of Castile and Leon collected the highest number of deaths, with five of the 13 confirmed, and the Community of Madrid added four.

In addition, in the records updated by the Ministry with data provided by the communities, a death occurred in the last week in Asturias, Castilla La Mancha, Valencian Community and La Rioja.

The total number of confirmed positive cases is 248,469, placing the country in the eighth place in the world with the most infections, behind the United States, Brazil, India, Russia, the United Kingdom, Peru and Chile, and in the sixth with the highest number deaths.

The cumulative incidence rate – which measures the cases diagnosed per 100,000 inhabitants – is 3.96% across Spain, twelve tenths above Friday, showing many variations between autonomous communities.

The Ministry indicates that there are 150 hospitalizations in the last week and 125,081 in total, of which 11,643 refer to patients who have needed hospitalization in the Intensive Care Units since the beginning of the pandemic, 17 of which in the last week.

Italy

Italy has recorded eight deaths from covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the lowest number since March 1 and bringing the total number of deaths to 34,716 since the start of the pandemic, according to the Ministry of Health.

On the other hand, the total number of infections has exceeded the barrier of 240,000, with 175 new infections totaling 240,136 people infected since the first case was confirmed on February 21.

Still, the total of 175 new cases is among the lowest in any pandemic emergency in Italy, and since Friday, more than 60,000 tests have been carried out.

The number of people sick with covid-19 also continues to decline, as there are currently 16,836 patients with the virus, but the vast majority, over 90%, are isolated at home, with mild or no symptoms.

Pressure in Italian hospitals continues to drop and the number of people needing intensive care inpatient care has dropped for the first time from 100, with 97 currently hospitalized, eight less than on Friday.

The region of Lombardy, located in the north and the epicenter of the pandemic in the country, remains the most affected and accumulates almost half of the new infections (77).

Italy, a country that is practically fully operational, closely monitors the evolution of the outbreaks that have emerged, which have so far been small.

In Mondragone, near Naples, the Army keeps a block of buildings inhabited by Bulgarian immigrants isolated, in which 49 people tested positive, having spent the night without incident after tensions in the neighborhood.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 494,000 deaths and infected more than 9.82 million people in 196 countries and territories, according to a report by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December in Wuhan, a city in central China.
