Italy continues to record an increase in the spread of the new coronavirus with 947 new confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, almost double those registered a week ago, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
From Thursday to today, there have been nine deaths associated with covid-19.
In total, since the beginning of the pandemic in February, Italy has recorded 257,065 cases of infection and 35,427 deaths.
The country has seen a consistent increase in new cases for a week, reaching levels that have not occurred since May.
The most affected region continues to be Lombardy (north), with 174 cases in the last 24 hours, against 154 the day before.
