The University of Lisbon (UL) informed this Thursday, in responses to the PUBLIC, that so far there are ten people infected with the new coronavirus “in all” the institution. Of these, five are employees of one of the university canteens.
“They all belong to the same shift. They are at home, quarantined, with a very low viral load ”, said the UL’s rector’s advisor. The same source indicated that the canteens have been closed since the announcement of the state of emergency in March, and that meals are served on a takeaway, so they “were not in close contact” with students.
Another of the infected people is an employee of UL’s Social Action Services, who works in one of the university residences located at the Faculty of Human Motricity. This case meant that the few students who are staying there, having come from other locations, had barricaded themselves this Wednesday in order to prevent the entry of their colleagues who live in the residence where the infected employee works.
