In total, there were 500,390 deaths globally, 196,086 of which in Europe, the continent most affected.
The United States is the country with the highest number of deaths (125,747), followed by Brazil (57,622), the United Kingdom (43,550), Italy (34,738) and France (29,778).
The number of registered deaths doubled in just under two months, after reaching 250 thousand deaths on May 5th.
AFP also recorded a total of 10,099,576 cases diagnosed worldwide, double since May 21.
