Cases of infection were reported by Napoli, Sassuolo and Torino on Thursday, but the virus had previously affected the Cagliari and AS Roma teams.

The Naples club reports that striker Andrea Petanja has been infected with Covid-19.

“Once the self-isolation period is over, he will be re-tested, and if the test is negative, he will return to the team,” the club said in a statement.

Like Petanja, Sassuolo striker Jeremiah Bog has no symptoms and has not been in contact with other footballers.

The Turin club does not disclose the names of the sick footballers, but AS Roma previously reported that the second goalkeeper Antonio Mirante and two young people were sick. Roman club footballers also have no symptoms.

The Cagliari club has three football players in self-isolation who have been diagnosed with Covid-19.

Series A ended in early August, but the first matches of next season are scheduled in a month.
