Data released this Thursday, in the daily epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), reveal that there are 228 Portuguese municipalities with at least three confirmed cases of Covid-19.

The municipality of Angra do Heroísmo, on the island of Terceira, Azores, joins the DGS list, with four cases of infection by the new coronavirus, after it was removed from the document on March 31.

According to the same document, in the last 24 hours there have been 331 new cases across the country. However, the data referring to the counties, account for 348 new infected. THE Renaissance, the General Directorate of Health states that “there are always correct data in municipalities, either due to delay in notification or due to the relocation of the user in the area of ​​residence”.

The director of the infectious disease service at Hospital Curry Cabral had already admitted, also in an interview with Renascença, delays in registering data at SINAVE.

Lisbon (+50), Amadora (+41), Porto (+40) Loures (+33), Odivelas (+25), and Vila Franca de Xira (+20), according to the DGS list. According to the same bulletin, 51 counties register at least one more confirmed case of Covid-19 compared to the previous day and eight counties add up to a thousand infected: Lisbon, Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto, Matosinhos, Braga, Sintra, Gondomar and Loures.

Knowing that the accounting will not be relative to the total number of cases – nor will it simultaneously monitor the data reported by the municipalities – DGS opted to provide only data from SINAVE, the national epidemiological surveillance system (91% of the total confirmed cases).

Lisbon occupies the top of the table with a total of 2,536 infected with the new coronavirus, followed by Vila Nova de Gaia (1,580), Porto (1,401) and Sintra (1,400). Of the 228 counties with at least three confirmed cases of Covid-19, 177 did not register an increase in the number of infected people compared to the previous day.

In the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (LVT), 309 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in the last 24 hours – 93% of the total new infections.

The North of the country follows with 15 more cases, Center with five more and Alentejo with two more. The Algarve and the archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira do not register an increase in the number of infected people.

Covid-19 cases by municipality

Portugal registers 1,455 deaths (eight more than on Wednesday, the lowest number of deaths in 24 hours since May 15) and 33,592 cases (plus 331, which represents an increase of 1%) confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus, according to the daily bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

This Thursday’s report, with data updated until midnight on Wednesday, reveals a increase of 244 in the number of recovered, for a total of 20,323. The number of active cases rises to 11,814 (plus 79).

The lethality rate drops to 4.3% – it is the first time it has fallen since May 7.

Since January 1, 333,106 suspected cases have been registered. The report also reveals that 1,741 cases are still awaiting the results of laboratory tests and more than 28,000 people are under surveillance by health authorities.

The North region has the highest number of deaths (801), followed by Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (383), the Central region (240), the Algarve (15) and Alentejo, with one dead. The bulletin reports 15 deaths in the Azores. The Madeira archipelago still has no record of deaths from Covid-19.

It is in the 80s and upwards that more deaths are registered (981), followed by the group from 70 to 79 years (279), from 60 to 69 years (129), from 50 to 59 years (46), from 40 to 49 years (17), from 20 to 29 years (2) and from 30 to 39 years, with one death.

In total, 737 women and 718 men died with Covid-19.
