Legal professor Lea Brilmayer told NPR broadcaster that most judges in the United States may have concluded that they had no jurisdiction over a legal dispute between a U.S. state and a sovereign nation. A group of 22 Republican MPs has meanwhile asked President Donald Trump to go to the International Court of Justice in The Hague because of the pandemic against China.
Trump himself has held China responsible for the worldwide spread of the corona virus. He had also temporarily stopped US contributions to the World Health Organization (WHO). The president shares responsibility for the many deaths and accuses the organization of exacerbating the pandemic with mismanagement and reliance on information from China. Critics, on the other hand, accuse Trump of wanting to distract from their own omissions before the presidential election in November.
