Each year, Time Out magazine unveils its ranking of the 51 trendiest neighborhoods in the world.
“Incredible places to be right now”. the British Time Out magazine revealed its ranking of the 51 coolest neighborhoods in the world on Tuesday. Marseille have a special place there as Cours Julien is in tenth position.
20,000 citizens and “local experts” interviewed by the magazine classified “the best places to have fun, eat, grow and live together”.
“High place of creativity”
The neighborhood, commonly referred to as Cours Ju ‘by locals, which once housed Marseille’s outdoor wholesale markets, is now a “high place of creativity,” the magazine writes.
It stands out in particular for its walls covered with street-art frescoes but also for its vintage clothing shops, its second-hand bookstores, its old warehouses transformed into art galleries, its concert halls, as well as its streets paved and colored. It also has many bars and restaurants and a vibrant nightlife.
Cours Julien is therefore found in this ranking together with the districts of Guadalajara in Mexico, Havana in Cuba and Tokyo in Japan. This top 51 includes only two districts located in France. The second, that of the Haut-Marais in Paris, managed to conquer the 44th place.
