Couple Unexpectedly Beaten During Robbery As They Arrive At Their Staten Island Home – NBC New York

A married couple were violently surprised by a group of suspected robbers just as they arrived at their home in Staten Island.

New York City authorities shared surveillance video of the unexpected attack that occurred on Saturday, February 19 at around 4:34 a.m. at a residence located in Mapleton Avenue and Freeborn Street.

The images show how the couple, a 37-year-old man and his 34-year-old wife, parked their car in the driveway of the house and when they tried to get out, three suspects surprised them.

Two of them, the police report says, allegedly threw the man to the ground and began beating him repeatedly and took his wallet containing several credit cards. Meanwhile, the other alleged thief snatched the woman’s purse containing $2,000 in cash.

The three suspects fled in a dark sedan car.

The 37-year-old man ended up with a cut on his lip, but he and his partner did not want medical attention.

The first suspect was last seen wearing a red jacket with white lines, a black mask and sneakers. The second had black clothing, including a vest and mask. The third also wore black clothing and gray sneakers.
