The Dutch police arrested a couple at Schiphol on Sunday who had fled from a quarantine hotel. The couple was arrested on a plane that was about to take off. Both persons have been handed over to the Municipal Health Service.

A police spokesperson says that it concerns the hotel in the Kennemerland region where travelers from South Africa who have tested positive are in isolation. Private security guards at the hotel ensure that the guests who must remain in isolation also comply with this. Outside, the police make sure that no one enters the hotel who has nothing to look for.
It is not clear how many of the infected travelers from South Africa are still in the hotel. Security will also remain there as long as guests are in isolation in the hotel. Someone can only go home and remain in isolation there if there is “protected transport”.
A total of 624 passengers who arrived at Schiphol from South Africa on Friday were tested for the corona virus. Among them, 61 tested positive. Bee 13 persons is the omikron variant so far of the coronavirus, but the investigation of all positively tested persons has not yet been completed.
