“Corruption is all around here.” The second material that Navalni was working on before the poisoning was published – Abroad – News

On August 20, while returning from Tomsk to Moscow, Navalny became ill on the plane. After an emergency landing in Omsk, he was unconsciously taken to hospital. Russian medics did not allow Navalny to be transported for several days, but in the end he was transported to the “Charite” clinic in Germany.

The first story about Novosibirsk’s “slum millionaire” Alexei Julay, who effectively monopolized the city’s two residential areas, came out on August 31.

On Thursday, September 3, Navalny’s colleagues launched a second investigation in Tomsk. In both materials, Navalny talks about the corruption of Vladimir Putin’s United Russia party and calls on voters to “vote wisely” to prevent United Russia from remaining in power in the September 13 regional elections.

“It is all about corruption, it affects everyone ‘s life.

It ‘s not just an expression – the local mafia holds the city so close that every inhabitant of Tomsk has to pay it several times every day, although most do not even realize it, “says Navalni about Tomsk.

In the video, he highlights opposition candidates who could be elected to the United Russia by “smart voting”.

Navalny points out that these deputies control utilities and other things, without which the daily life of the people of Tomsk is unthinkable. One example is electricity, which is needed in all homes, businesses and public facilities.

He who controls such a system “knows that he will be paid as much as he is asked; he can be stolen as much as he is allowed”.

In Tomsk, this service is in the hands of Vladimir Reznikov. He was once the director of the energy company Gorseti when he was still under state auspices. When it became a private company, Reznikov retained his managerial position.

Since 2001, he has been a member of the Tomsk City Council and Legal Assembly. Reznikov is also the leader of the Tomsk branch of the United Russia.

His son Maksim Reznikov, who is also a member of the Tomsk City Council and is running in the upcoming elections this month, works in Reznikov’s business. Elena Telkova, who owns 10% of Gorseti, has also been elected to the City Council from the list of “United Russia”.

When residents receive bills for the electricity consumed, it indicates the price per kilowatt hour. It consists of several components, but about 40% of this amount is accounted for by the use of the city’s electricity grid. The more efficient the service provider, the smaller it should be, explains Navalni.

However, in the case of Tomsk, the city’s electricity grid is serviced by Reznikov’s relatives.

For example, Gorseti has paid 4.4 million rubles (49,500 euros) for the repair of a video surveillance system. The executor of the order is the company “Sistemkompleks”, which has also installed “Gorseti” fire alarms. The owner of “Sistemkompleks” is Reznikov’s son Igor.

Gorseti buys drinking water from Sibirskije eko-napitki, a company owned by Reznikov’s grandson, for eight million rubles (90,000 euros).

What is even more interesting is that the cars of the company “Mercedes” and “Land Cruiser” are rented from Galina Yasjuka, from which “Gorseti” also buys everything else that is needed – pipes, wires and the like. Yasjuka is the manager of the Gorset Cafeteria.
