The agency notes that since the beginning of the war, independent Belarusian and Ukrainian media began to appear reports of morgues and hospitals in cities in southern Belarus, allegedly overflowing with the bodies of Russian soldiers.
Mozyr, a small town located about 60 km from the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, attracted particular attention of journalists.
According to the interlocutor of the agency, there are a lot of military men on the streets of the city – presumably from Chechnya, you can see cars with Russian numbers.
Here is what a source told the BBC, who is familiar with the morgue staff: “The corpses are not even taken to the refrigerator, but to an ordinary room – 5 by 5 square meters, they are stored there for a while, they rot, stink – then the bodies are taken away somewhere. This is done by the soldiers themselves. Everything is guarded, only the head of the department has access.”
“How many of these corpses – no one knows, but everyone is horrified by what is happening. Doctors think that somewhere there is a mobile crematorium or they are simply buried,” the source added.
