The Peruvian Consul in Madrid, Luis Arribasplata, reported that there are around 750 | Peruvians who are stranded in Madrid, while in all of Spain there are more or less 1,400 or 1,500 compatriots to repatriate.

In dialogue with ATV, he indicated that the Peruvian Consulate in the Spanish capital has done everything in its power to repatriate the largest number of compatriots, however there are not enough flights.

“We have an exhaustive list of all Peruvians. There are around 750 Peruvians who are stranded in Madrid. In all of Spain there are more or less about 1400 or 1500 to repatriate, and it is only the stranded who had their plane ticket when the airport closed and could not return ”he expressed.

He explained that there are two disadvantages in the return of Peruvians from Spain: the number of rooms available for them to comply with the quarantine in our country and the few existing flights due to the quarantine.

“We have only taken advantage of flights that have been chartered by the Spanish and Italian governments. In both cases few people have gone, it has not been easy. In the last one that came out yesterday, only 15 people traveled. That does not depend on us ”he asserted.

“In total 198 people have traveled and we still have 750 more. All people are supported. We have a specific registry of people who needed support ”he added.

Finally, the Peruvian diplomat remarked that all possible support has been provided to Peruvians stranded in Spain, either with money for food or to pay for accommodation.

“All those who were registered have been given support. Of them 380 people are currently receiving money for accommodation or just for food, which is money from the State that we have to manage and it is running out fast ”he sentenced.
