A CBS investigation reveals that the US federal authorities allowed the distribution of faulty evidence.

The United States has registered a new maximum of daily coronavirus cases this Saturday with 45,300 infections in the last 24 hours, up to a total of 2.46 million cases and more than 125,000 deaths as a result of the extraordinary wave of cases registered in the states of the so-called “Belt of the Sun”, starting with Texas and Florida.
Although the vice president of the United States, Mike Pence, assured this Friday that the growth of the cases is due to the increase in the tests, experts believe that the high rate of contagion (13 percent in some states) indicates that the virus is it is spreading above the testing capacity, due to the relaxation of the restrictions in the last days.
At least 31 states have seen increases in cases compared to two weeks ago, and eleven have reversed their reopening measures. The 45,300 cases in the last hours far exceed the 40,000 new infections on Friday’s balance.
“Our situation is much worse today than when we issued the first home stay order in Harris County and when the state issued its first home stay order,” said Texas Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo. “This is unacceptable,” he lamented in statements collected by the CBS network.
As part of the latest measures taken, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez has ordered the closure of Miami beaches on the weekend of the Independence Day vacation, July 4, to try to contain the new outbreak of coronavirus cases that is spreading throughout the state of Florida after registering a historical record of daily cases with almost 9,000 infections this Friday.
The measure, announced this Friday night, is in addition to those enacted by the state of Florida as well as that of Texas and Florida to suspend alcohol consumption in bars after these spikes.
“After the success we have had at the beginning in containing the crisis, we cannot turn our back on what is happening and risk the lives of our doctors again. Everyone must do their duty and follow the rules,” has added.
DEFECTIVE TESTS
The CBS network’s ’60 Minutes’ research program has revealed that federal authorities were unable to immediately stop the distribution of many antibody tests knowing that they were defective, leading to inaccurate data on the spread of the virus.
Congress is now investigating why the Federal Drug and Drug Administration, the FDA, did not review the evidence and allowed it to be widely distributed across the country for 90 days, until it gave an order to suspend distribution.
According to the program’s research, among the reasons that are speculated are the rush to have a verification system for the disease in the midst of the epidemic wave.
Thus, cities like Laredo, Texas, ended up receiving thousands of antibody test kits from a Chinese company that ended up giving erroneous results.
