The New Yorker urged the audience to fight for a “better future”. The musician Usher sang against discrimination and inequality against a dark background. During his performance, actors were lying on the floor in the pose that white police officers forced African American George Floyd to do at the end of May. Floyd had died in the US city of Minneapolis after an officer knelt on his neck for minutes.
The concert marked the end of an international donation marathon for vaccines and treatments for lung disease Covid-19. According to the EU Commission, a total of 15.9 billion euros were raised.
