Coronavirus, six out of ten infected are less than 50 years old

This is what emerges from the new weekly infographic published on the portal of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS), which reports the data relating to the last 30 days and updated to 20 July.

It is enough to compare these data with those since the beginning of the pandemic to see how the positive Covid population has changed in these months. In fact, 50.2% of those infected in the last 30 days are between 19 and 50 years old, and represent the largest share. Added to 10.8% of those under 18 years of age, it brings the total number of cases under 50 to 60%. On the other hand, the percentage of the elderly, who were the most affected before, continues to drop: 22.8% are between 51 and 70 years old and only 16.2% are over 70 years old.
Men now represent 53% of Sars-Cov-2 positives: their percentage continues to increase, given that, if we also consider the data of the previous months, the total of cases among males does not exceed 46%.
