Coronavirus: Number of intensive care patients doubles in two days – News Switzerland: French-speaking Switzerland

To date, 468 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Geneva; 92 patients are currently hospitalized and 19 of them require intensive care. Of these, 18 are intubated because they cannot breathe independently. In addition, the number of deaths due to the disease now stands at four in the canton.

This update was delivered this Thursday at 3 p.m. by the health authorities. Recall that on Tuesday, it was a question of 319 people diagnosed and 63 people hospitalized, with “only” nine people intubated. However, Doctor Aglaé Tardin – who works alongside cantonal doctor Jacques-André Romand, affected by the coronavirus – these figures are “stable for one or two days”.

Regarding the deceased, Aglaé Tardin said that they were over 80 years old, except in one case – the first victim was a 32-year-old woman who suffered from other illnesses.

Before these announcements, Director General of Health Adrien Bron assured that the Geneva health network was ready to face the challenges that await it in the coming days. And this, despite the doubt about the replenishment of tests, which prevents for the time being to launch a wider screening of the population.
