Cases have also been reported from other regions in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is difficult to say exactly how high the numbers are in the state. Some schools will not open on Monday. Many crisis teams meet, municipalities report suspicious cases, illnesses or precautionary measures – often in connection with the message: do not panic.
In Bonn a student who had celebrated carnival in the Heinsberg district got infected, as the head of the health department, Ingrid Heyer, said on Saturday. In a primary school in Bonn, he had helped the children with all-day care there for an hour and a half with homework before going home with cold symptoms. The young man was tested positive on Friday and is now in domestic quarantine. Test smears should be made for the approximately 185 schoolchildren of the affected primary school. For this purpose, crisis teams should visit the families at home. The results should be available by Sunday. The school is closed for two weeks.
In Aachen a woman from Gangelt was treated in isolation in a clinic. In nearby Würselen, Sars-CoV-2 was detected in a mother and her son – 11th grade students. The mother had also celebrated carnival in Gangelt. Both were discharged home because of “the mild course of the disease”, as a spokesman for the urban region said. According to the city, the comprehensive school in Herzogenrath that the young person is attending is now being closed for a week as a precaution.
Also a teacher from a primary school in Mönchengladbach has been infected with the corona virus. This was announced by the city and announced the closure of the elementary school and an associated sub-location by March 15. The teacher had been in quarantine at home since Thursday and had previously had contact with third-grade students and the teaching staff on one class day. Therefore, the approximately 70 pupils in the third grades, all 30 teachers and the rest of the school staff should remain in quarantine at home.
In a special school in Sauerland Lüdenscheid classes for the 95 students and 20 teachers will be canceled next week. A pedagogue became infected with the corona virus after he also attended the carnival session in the Heinsberg district. There was also a 28-year-old from Cologne, where the virus was detected. A 30-year-old from Cologne also had contact with a person from the Heinsberg district.
In Baden-Wurttemberg the Ministry of the Interior has now recommended that police officers, as well as children, students, teachers and many officials, stay at home as a precaution if they have recently been in a risk area for the novel corona virus. Officials would be released from duty until their health was cleared up. According to the ministry, the risk areas are the northern Italian province of Lodi in the Lombardy region and the city of Vo in the Veneto region, as well as parts of China, Iran and South Korea.
In order to limit the risk of infection as far as possible, a crisis team from the Interior and Health Ministry decided on Friday to extend the precautionary measures at the borders. A number of events are also canceled, including the world’s largest travel trade fair ITB, which was supposed to open in Berlin on Wednesday. The Cologne hardware fair, the international trade fair for metalworking technologies in Düsseldorf and the Cologne fitness fair Fibo have also been postponed to a later date. The restaurant guide Guide Michelin canceled its star award in Hamburg planned for Tuesday. According to a message, the restaurants will now be awarded in a “digital press communication”.
