Coronavirus is gaining strength. Many European countries have reported record increases

In Germany, the epidemic situation is better per capita than in most European countries, but even there the number of infected people is growing. On Saturday, Germany reported a record over fourteen thousand cases.

The Spanish government today approved a state of emergency due to the growing number of infected. Payment begins today and lasts for two weeks. Across the country except the Canary Islands, the cabinet introduced a night curfew from 23:00 to 06:00 and limited gatherings to six people, except for household members.

Closure of the Italian-Slovenian border

In Italy, stricter measures will apply from Monday. Bars and restaurants will have to close at 18:00 CET, theaters and cinemas, gyms, swimming pools and ski resorts will close completely. In addition, at least 75 percent of high school students must switch to distance learning.

Due to the epidemic situation in northern Italy, the Italian-Slovenian border will be closed on Monday. In Slovenia, too, the number of people infected is growing, as in other countries in the former Yugoslavia, Romania and Bulgaria.

For the first time over the weekend, three Central European countries crossed the threshold of 3,000 confirmed cases: Austria, Hungary and Slovakia. Countries have already responded to the growing number of infected countries by tightening measures: Austria has restricted gatherings, and Slovakia has restricted the free movement of people. In four districts in the north and east of Slovakia, the area was tested over the weekend.

President Duda was also punished

The number of infected is also growing significantly in Poland, where measures have been further tightened. President Andrzej Duda also became infected with the virus, but he is not the only European politician who has announced a positive test. Not all Europeans agree with the measures taken against the spread of coronavirus. Infection is also increasing in Latin America. In Colombia, the number of detected infections has reached over a million.

The Czech Republic, together with Belgium, is now one of the worst affected countries in Europe. More than a quarter of a million people in the Czech Republic have been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus since the beginning of the epidemic. More than two thousand died with the covid-19.
