The information was communication by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), so far discarding the existence of any case of infection by COVID-19 in Portugal, with the particularity that in this 11th session, it was not necessary to carry out any analysis.

“After investigating the clinical and epidemiological history in the presence
of the citizen who was referred to the Centro Hospitalar Universitário de
São João, it was concluded that the case does not constitute a suspected case of
infection with a new coronavirus (covid-19) ”, says DGS in a statement.
In this sense, no laboratory analysis was carried out by the Ricardo Jorge Institute (INSA).

The 11th case of possible coronavirus infection was confirmed by DGS
early afternoon: she was a young South Korean girl who arrived three
days to Gondomar and which was, as required by the protocols, transferred to São João, in Porto.
Up until
at the moment, all suspected cases in Portugal were negative and “no suspected case of infection with a new coronavirus is admitted”, the statement also points out.
Three suspected cases in less than 24 hours
During the morning, DGS revealed the negative results in the analysis of two other cases (called 9th and 10th cases). They had been referred to the Centro Hospitalar Universitário de São João, in Porto, and Hospital Dona Estefânia, in Lisbon, also according to the protocol of the reference hospitals for these situations.
The tenth suspect case referred to a child returned from China who was referred to the Hospital Dona Estefânia.
“The child was hospitalized, having already collected biological samples for analysis by the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge”, explained the DGS.
Eight suspected cases had already tested negative, the eighth still on Sunday night. The ninth case, whose analyzes traveled from the north, was only ruled out this morning.
The Minister of Health explained that the child’s case was validated on Sunday and that the analyzes would take place together with those of the ninth suspected case, of the adult hospitalized in São João.
“The option for carrying out the joint analyzes was only related to the monetization of means, that is, there was an analysis that was made just last night, that we had the result and that we shared [o oitavo caso suspeito], and now there are two analyzes whose results are awaiting ”, justified Minister Marta Temido.

Two cases fell with Sunday night
Yesterday, two suspected cases were reported by the DGS, one in Gondomar, in the north of the country, and another in the Lisbon region. Both situations would be referred to the nearest referral hospitals for the nearest COVID-19 epidemic: São João (Porto) and Curry Cabral (Lisbon).
The second case, due to the proximity of the Ricardo Jorge Institute, where screening tests are carried out, was the first to be discarded, still on Sunday night.

According to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), there are 44 confirmed cases in the European Union and the United Kingdom.
