Brazil registers second daily record of infections
Brazil has notified in the last 24 hours 108,732 new cases and 1,324 deaths associated with the coronavirus, which means the second daily record for infections despite the slowdown in the pandemic in recent days.
The number of new cases only fell below the 115,228 registered on June 23 and exceeds the 100,158 on March 25.
Brazil now adds 19,632,443 confirmed cases and totals 548,340 deaths since the first contagion, on February 26, 2020, and since the first death, on March 12 of the same year.
According to the report, of the 19.6 million infected in this nation of almost 212 million inhabitants, 18,331,462 patients have recovered, representing 93.3% of the total.
Another 752,641 patients are under medical supervision in hospitals or in their residences after having tested positive in clinical tests.

The average number of cases in the last week rose to 46,333 daily infections this Friday, due to the exceptional situation in Rio Grande do Sul, which interrupted the trend of constant decline in recent days and which was already approaching the weekly average to that registered on January 6, when it was 35,422 infections per day.
The average number of daily deaths in the last week, meanwhile, fell to 1,135 this Friday, and 53.1% of cities did not register any death related to covid-19 in the last week, according to the National Confederation of Municipalities (CNM) of Brazil.
The agency indicated that in 19.1% of the country’s cities the number of deaths remained stable, while in another 16.6% it decreased.
The state of Sao Paulo, the most populated in the country with 46 million inhabitants and located in the Southeast region, continues to be the one with the most confirmed cases (3,991,188) and deaths (136,884).
