The Ministry of Health announced on Friday o 657 new infections detected. This is the largest daily balance since March 4, when the first case of coronavirus in Poland was identified. On Thursday, the data showed 615 new cases, Wednesday at 512, Tuesday by 502, and Monday by 337. In total, in Poland, since the beginning of the pandemic, the infection was confirmed in 45,688 people, of whom 1,716 died.

Andrzej Sośnierz, former president of the National Health Fund and MP of the Agreement, the coalition party of Law and Justice, pointed out in Friday’s “Fakt after Faktach” on TVN24 that if more tests were carried out, there would be more infections detected. – We still do not catch this group of asymptomatic people who have had contact with the infected and are virus carriers – he pointed out. If he could catch them, “now, after such a time, we would not have more, on the contrary, we would have less infections”.

According to Sośnierz, “we have not learned to catch” infected people. – We do not have a good system for the first link: collecting the so-called epidemiological interview, which would be complete, which would catch all people in contact with the infected. Unfortunately, we still cannot do that – he said.

As the reason for this situation, the former president of the National Health Fund pointed to the deficiencies in the efficiency of “mainly the Sanepid”, resulting, in his opinion, from the fact that the Ministry of Health did not take steps to strengthen the sanitary services. – What is happening now is the result of the fact that for months we have not built the right structure to fight the epidemic. We keep reacting backwards that when something happens there is some kind of government reaction. We blame everything on society – noted the MPC.

He stressed that “the system of collecting epidemiological interviews should be expanded”. – The entire population that has been in contact with the virus should be captured and tested. And in order to be tested efficiently, you need to have an efficient structure of swab collection. And you need to have an efficient testing system that you don’t have to wait a week for the results, he said.

When asked if Poland was to return to more restrictive restrictions, Sośnierz said that it “will be a difficult political decision”.

– But let’s not shift everything on to people, to citizens. For God’s sake, let the state finally show what it can do and build the system that I am talking about, because it is not building it yet. These are all such ephemeral activities. If the state – on the one hand – works efficiently, then you can ask: citizens, help us and see what we are doing.
