Coronavirus in Peru | Government announces interventions in places of mass concentration and operations during the curfew

The president of the Council of Ministers, Walter Matos, assured that the Government will continue to adopt measures to decrease the exposure rate and cut the chain of contagion from COVID-19. During his presentation to the CongressHe announced that this Wednesday the Government will approve a supreme decree with complementary measures to help reverse this situation.

“If we do not contain the disease, it will be difficult to advance with the reactivation of our economy. We have restarted, and we are going to deepen, at the national level, the multisectoral interventions coordinated by the Ministry of Defence, to control social distancing and capacity in places of massive concentration of people, “he said.

In this sense, he specified that surveillance in markets, shopping centers, bus stops, banks and others will be strengthened, as well as the intensification of joint operations of the Armed forces and the National Police for control during curfew. “Our forces of order will continue in the streets until when it is necessary. That is the commitment that the armed institutes and the police have assumed,” he said.

At the beginning of his speech, Martos acknowledged that, with the gradual restart of economic activities, there has been an increase in infections. In this regard, he urged the population to move “as little as possible” to avoid “a greater wave of infections.” “That includes leaving home for what is strictly necessary, avoiding urban and even interregional transport of people,” he said.
