The London club is bringing in a midfielder.
The Danish midfielder Pierre-Emil Højbjerg is ready for Tottenham. This is confirmed by the London club via its Twitter account on Tuesday night.
Coming from Southampton
The Dane joins Spurs from Premier League colleague Southampton.
Højbjerg has played 134 games for Southampton and also has a past in FC Bayern Munich. The midfielder has 33 international caps for Denmark.
The Dane is said to have signed a five-year contract with Tottenham and according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the transfer fee is around 17 million pounds.
– It is important for me to play in a club where I can envisage staying for many years. Tottenham is that club. I am proud, happy and excited, he says about the transition,
– I think the club has a fantastic future ahead and I would like to be a part of it, the midfielder continues.
Refused to sign
The 25-year-old gets jersey number five in Tottenham.
It was in the cards that the Dane would change clubs in this transfer window after he had refused to sign a new agreement with Southampton. As a result, Højbjerg was stripped of his captaincy in the club after the corona break.
Everton are also said to have been looking for the 25-year-old’s signature.
Walker-Peters also sold
At the same time, it also became clear that Tottenham’s Kyle Walker-Peters has gone permanently to Southampton.
He has previously been on loan at the club, but has now signed a five-year contract, the coastal club states in a press release.
