Coronavirus in Germany: incidence of infections scales and reaches 1,156.8 | Coronavirus | D.W.

The incidence of coronavirus infections continues to increase in Germany, and according to the records of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), delivered this Sunday (01.30.2022), the figure reached a new record of 1,156.8. This number reflects the number of new positives for SARS-CoV.2 registered in seven days in the European country, and has been steadily growing for weeks.

To graph the force with which this figure has increased, it can be compared with the figure for Saturday (1,127.7), last Sunday (806.8) and a month ago (207.4). In the past 24 hours, the authorities officially registered a total of 118,970 new infections, a figure significantly higher than that of Sunday, January 23, when 85,440 infections were reported.

Experts assume that the real figures are always much higher than those reported, among other reasons because many infections (especially the less serious ones) are not reported, testing capacity is overstretched in various regions of the country and those in charge themselves are unable to notify all infections detected due to work overload.

every nine minutes

At the national level, there were also 59 new deaths related to covid-19, bringing the total number of deaths since March 2020 as a result of the pandemic to 117,725. This implies that since the health crisis broke out, one person has died of covid in Germany every nine minutes. It is worth noting, however, that the number of deaths has decreased markedly since the introduction of vaccines.

For the RKI, 9,737,215 people have contracted the coronavirus, this is about 12 percent of the population of Germany. Of these, 7,564,200 are considered recovered by the authorities. The virus reproduction rate is 1.17 (100 people infect 117) and 75.7 percent of the German population has received at least one dose of the vaccines authorized in Europe to deal with the pandemic.
