Coronavirus | Government extends quarantine to three provinces of Cajamarca and one of Cusco due to pandemic

The Executive Power approved Supreme Decree 129-2020-PCM which extends from tomorrow, Sunday 26, the quarantine to the provinces of Cajamarca, Jaén and San Ignacio in the region Cajamarca and to the province of Convention in the region Cusco.

According to the norm published this Saturday in the A Peruvian man, in said provinces the displacement of people solely for the provision and access to essential services and goods.

With this modification, in addition, the compulsory social immobilization (curfew) from 8 pm to 4 am the following day, and on Sunday the compulsory social immobilization is all day, in the following departments:

Arequipa, Ica, Junín, Huánuco, San Martín, Madre de Dios, Áncash, from the provinces of Cajamarca, Jaén and San Ignacio in the department of Cajamarca and of the province of La Convencion of the department of Cusco.

Situation in Cusco and Cajamarca

Last Thursday, the COVID-19 command region of Cusco confirmed that the province entered the phase 4 of the pandemic due to the massive increase of those infected, which number more than 300 per day.

In this situation the regional and local authorities, as well as representatives of civil society, requested the presence of the Minister of Health, Pilar Mazzetti, in the city, plus authorization border closure and the restarting an absolute quarantine for 14 days.

While the region Cajamarca until July 13 had a good containment of the new coronavirus, currently and as reported by the regional director of Health, Pedro Cruzado, contagions are increasing because the population has left disorderly, believing that the quarantine had ended.

The doctor reported that both Cajamarca and Jaén are the cities with the highest number of COVID-19 infections. in the region; however, work is being done to slow the spread of the virus.
