Coronavirus: Babahoyo and Valencia decide to change the traffic light from red to yellow from this June 1 | Ecuador | News

In the cantons of Valencia and Babahoyo, belonging to the province of Los Ríos, control and biosafety measures are implemented for the passage of red to yellow traffic lights from next Monday, June 1.

The first to announce the new measure was the mayor of Babahoyo, Carlos Germán, at a meeting that took place this Wednesday morning in the City Hall, after a ceremony commemorating the 151 years of its foundation, which told with the assistance of representatives of the local Emergency Operations Committee (COE).

During the appointment, today, the members of the tables that make up the COE announced to the Mayor the corresponding analyzes related to the pandemic according to their area of ​​responsibility.

“The decision was made after analyzing the measures that will be adopted during the stoplight in yellow, if these are met, we would be ready to go green,” said German.

According to the official report in Babahoyo to date, it registers 494 positive cases of COVID-19 diagnosed with PCR tests.

The COE of the canton Valencia also informed the decision to change to yellow after a meeting that took place this Wednesday in the auditorium of the Fire Department of the canton Valencia.

Celso Fuertes, mayor of Valencia reminded citizens that the curfew at this stage begins from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., and in the case of Babahoyo, the mayor will request the national COE to be allowed to initiate the curfew. It is from 19:00 because Babahoyo is the city of the province of Los Ríos with the highest number of positive cases of the virus.

Both cantons already have temporary isolation centers for COVID-19 positive patients in recovery, isolation or with mild symptoms. These shelters have the approval of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP).

The Vinces canton will also go from a red to a yellow traffic light from June 1, as reported by its mayor, Alfonso Montalván.
