COVID-19, or coronavirus for friends, continues to cause waves in the video game industry.
After Sony, Facebook, Kojima Productions and Unity, it’s Microsoft’s and Epic’s turn to cancel their presence at the Game Developers Conference (GDC), scheduled to take place March 16-20 in San Francisco.
Worried about the coronavirus, the giant of Redmond says to have relied on the “advice of the world health authorities” and will rather broadcast on the Web the “most” of the presentations planned for the GDC, we learn in a blog post.
“The health and safety of players, developers, employees and partners around the world is our number one priority,” said Microsoft.
On the Epic side, the company shared the news of its withdrawal from the GDC through a posting on the Unreal Engine Twitter page.
