CoronaCheck app sometimes overloaded, QR code for catering visitors cannot be requested everywhere

The CoronaCheck app is overloaded at times, because too many people are trying to retrieve a QR code at the same time. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Health says that using the app can sometimes take a while and advises to try the app again later.

In Alkmaar, Arnhem, Nijmegen and Breda, among others, people make on social media notification of malfunctions with the app. A NOS reporter in Rotterdam notices that the app sometimes works slowly. Also on the malfunction website Allestoringen.nl many messages come in.

As of today, people have to show a corona pass to gain access to most catering, events and concert halls. The implementation went smoothly during the day, although not everywhere was checked on the admission ticket.

Problem with requesting QR code

The app works without internet if you have previously created a QR code. In that case, you can show the admission ticket without any problems, says the ministry. This does not apply to people who still have to request such a code: a connection to the sometimes overloaded server is required for this.

In addition, the QR code may not work for people who have not used the app for a month. The ministry advises users to ‘check’ the corona admission ticket before you go out.
