The corona vaccinations in Hamburg are making further progress: From now on, people from the age of 73 can have an appointment – the social authority confirmed this on Friday.
The vaccination campaign among general practitioners has also got off to a successful start: the patients are grateful, said the chairwoman of the general practitioner association, Jana Husemann. The practice teams are highly motivated. In the coming weeks, however, patients will have to be patient: it is not until the end of April that doctors in private practice will slowly have more vaccine available. Until then, there will be a maximum of 20 doses per week and doctor’s office.

Family doctors will soon also be getting AstraZeneca
From the week after next, the doctors should also receive the vaccine from AstraZeneca. This makes home calls, for example with bedridden patients, much easier than with the sensitive product from Biontech / Pfizer.
Large hospitals can vaccinate themselves
The large hospitals in Hamburg, such as the Asklepios clinics and the Hamburg-Eppendorf University Clinic, will soon be able to vaccinate. It should start, among other things, on cancer wards and in psychiatry. But even there it should strictly follow the sequence of vaccinations.
Forecast sees vaccination options for adults by mid-July
A forecast of the Central institute for statutory health care in GermanyAccording to which all Hamburgers willing to vaccinate could be protected against Corona until mid-July, the social authority did not want to comment. There are only specific vaccine delivery commitments until the end of April. In the best case scenario, however, the forecast could come true. “If more vaccine comes, more will be vaccinated, and it increases the vaccination rate,” said a spokesman for the authorities.
The central institute for statutory health care assumes in its forecast that 80 percent of adults wanted to be vaccinated and that the vaccine would be delivered in the quantities announced by the Federal Ministry of Health. Then all those willing to vaccinate would have their first vaccination by June 6th and their second vaccination by July 18th.
