In Sweden, the number of infected people who have been vaccinated has increased, which is to be expected.

At the press conference Byfors said that the health authorities are particularly concerned that the infection among the unvaccinated who are 70 years and older see a small increase. She says that the older you are, the more important it is to get vaccinated.

Be prepared

For the Swedes who plan to travel at Christmas, there was no good news presented by Byfors during the press conference. She says that one must be prepared to cancel the trip.

– Be careful when traveling if you get symptoms. One must be prepared to cancel.

– It is still important to protect the elderly, and depending on how the infection develops, there may be new restrictions. For example, one should not see the grandchildren when they have symptoms.

Looks bright

Fortunately for us Norwegians, the Christmas season looks brighter than for our neighbors to the east.

Despite the increase in infection throughout the country, the assistant director of health in the Norwegian Directorate of Health, Espen Rostrup Nakstad, does not believe that this year’s Christmas will be canceled.

– I think we can manage to get control of the increase in infection before we get to Christmas, and then we will still be able to live very normally through the winter, writes Nakstad in an email to Dagbladet.

He also writes that it requires the population to follow the actual advice that applies and that the municipalities recommend.
