China recorded the highest number of new cases of daily local transmission of COVID-19 in more than six weeks. This increase occurred in line with the country’s efforts to combat this pandemic, especially in the northern provinces.
As of October 29, 2021, China reported 59 new cases of local transmission of COVID-19. According to the National Health Commission, this case rose from the previous 48 cases in a day. Cases of local transmission are the highest since September 16.
Quoted from Channel News Asia, most of the new local cases were in northern China, with COVID-19 reported in Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Beijing and Ningxia.
Including cases imported from abroad, China recorded 78 coronavirus case just on October 29th. The country also reported 24 new asymptomatic cases, which are classified separately from confirmed cases.
However, there have been no new deaths from COVID-19. Thus, the total death toll has not changed, still at 4,636 cases.
Although the number of cases is smaller than in other countries, the emergence of these cases has made officials take precautions again. For example tightening restrictions, suppressing the service sector, including tourism and catering companies.
