Corona outbreak in Hillegom: already 23 infections linked to a brown café

The infections are linked to café De Kleine Beurs on the Hoofdstraat in Hillegom. People who were in the café on Saturday evening July 11 should stay at home, says the GGD. They can contact the GGD for more information.

People who have been in De Kleine Beurs between 8 and 16 July must also keep an eye on their health and report to the GGD if they get complaints.

The cafe closed its doors on Friday, when it turned out that four visitors had contracted corona. The owner and a number of staff of the café have also been infected, reports Omroep West. The GGD conducts a contact survey to map out the further distribution.

‘Get tested, even with minor complaints’

The cafe used a health check at the door. “Despite all precautions, a person with Covid-19 has come close to us,” says the café’s Facebook page. “Unfortunately this unknown person was at the height of her / his infection rate. This person probably didn’t know anything was wrong.”

According to the GGD, the virus may have spread because people with mild complaints have not been tested. The health service also calls for a test to be carried out for minor complaints such as a runny nose or sneezing.
