Corona outbreak in cell house Escape – Waterfront

Once again there is a corona outbreak in a cell house in Suriname and this time at the Uitvlugt agency. In total, thirteen detainees have been infected with the dreaded virus.

Initially, a detainee from Uitvlugt became infected, who was transported to the Keizerstraat detention center. On Monday afternoon, his fellow sufferers underwent a rapid test, which showed that they tested positive. A swab test of them has also taken place, the result of which is not yet in. The intention is also to transfer these twelve men to the detention center of Keizerstraat.

Cellenhuis Keizerstraat is used to receive infected detainees. Infected men, who were imprisoned in the cell houses Nieuwe Haven and Latour, were previously housed in the cell house of Keizerstraat. Some have since been declared cured, after which she has been locked up in the House of Detention at the Santo Boma complex.

A police officer from the Uitvlugt office is also infected with COVID-19. It is unknown how he became infected.
