Doctors’ president warns of major hospital loads
Medical President Klaus Reinhardt is promoting targeted booster vaccinations in view of the faster spread of corona and warns of greater stress on the clinics. “The situation is still manageable,” said the head of the German Medical Association of the German Press Agency. But you definitely don’t want to experience again that nurses from other areas help out on corona wards and, for example, predictable operations have to be canceled. Doctors in clinics and practices, nurses and medical assistants are at their limit after a year and a half of the pandemic. “This should also be remembered by those who – for whatever reason – have not yet vaccinated.”

US secret services: the origin of the virus remains unclear
According to US intelligence agencies, the corona virus is either of natural origin or escaped from a laboratory. Both hypotheses are plausible, according to a publicly released report by the US Director of National Intelligence. The US services would probably not be able to clarify it more precisely. The secret services rejected the assumption that the virus could have been developed as a biological weapon as unlikely.

Nationwide incidence is now 145.1
The nationwide seven-day incidence has again increased significantly. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gives the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week in the morning as 145.1. For comparison: the previous day the value was 139.2, a week ago it was 100. The health authorities in Germany reported 21,543 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. A week ago the value was 15,145 infections. Across Germany, 90 deaths were recorded within 24 hours.

Seven-day incidence in SH increased again
In Schleswig-Holstein, the seven-day incidence of new corona infections per 100,000 population has risen to 69.2. The day before it was 66.8, a week ago it was 52.4. According to the state registration office, 349 new cases were last registered within 24 hours, yesterday there were 360. Two further deaths in connection with a corona infection were reported in Schleswig-Holstein. The number of patients with a corona infection who are in an intensive care unit in hospital remained at 15.

Interview with Hamburg’s Senator for Finance on emergency aid claims
Around 45,000 companies and the self-employed have benefited from so-called Corona emergency aid in Hamburg, and thousands of them are now expected to repay large sums of money. The repayment of a total of 80 million euros could bring many in need – and are sometimes perceived as unjust. Hamburg’s Finance Senator Andreas Dressel (SPD) told NDR Info that nobody should get into a new emergency. It is possible to pay the repayment in installments or to leave it on a deferred basis.
