SH: Anxiety and obesity among young people are increasing significantly

Compared to before the corona pandemic, anxiety disorders in children and adolescents in Schleswig-Holstein have increased significantly, according to the health insurance company DAK. In 2021, about 59% more young people between 15 and 17 years old were treated with anxiety disorders and 25% more with depressive episodes than in 2019. Girls were the most affected, with an increase in 69% of anxiety disorders and a 38% increase in depression by age group. Morbid obesity has also increased dramatically – in girls between the ages of five and nine, for example, by 42%.

State elections: participation is also possible in case of sudden illness

Even those who suddenly develop corona symptoms or are surprised by another disease can vote in state elections in Lower Saxony on Sunday. A government spokesman said ballot papers can in principle be requested up to the second day before the elections (Friday 7 October, before 1pm). In the event of sudden illness, this is also possible until 3pm on election day. The person entitled to vote must explain in writing why he cannot go to the polling station in person: a person of his choice can then collect the electoral card at the competent electoral office with written authorization and declaration on election Sunday. As a rule, the electoral office is located in the town hall or citizen’s office, not in a polling station. It is important that the power of attorney clearly states the name, address and date of birth of the voter, is personally signed and indicates the person withdrawing it with the name and date of birth. The voting documents completed by the patient himself or with his collaborators should therefore be placed in envelopes and returned to the electoral office by 6.00 pm at the latest.

Flu diseases as a result of crown measurements are apparently on the rise

Due to crown measures such as keeping your distance and wearing a mask, many people’s immune systems are apparently much worse “trained” than in previous years. Some experts fear this could lead to a more serious flu epidemic and recommend flu vaccinations. According to preliminary data from Australia, vaccination protects about 30 to 40 percent from the need for medical treatment for flu.

President Leopoldina: “The long Covid is a seriously underestimated problem”

The President of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, Gerald Haug, still sees a considerable need for research on Long Covid. “Long Covid is a seriously underestimated problem with limited treatment options so far,” Haug told dpa news agency. He himself knows “young sportsmen who do not even have an hour of energy a day”. The causes and the various symptoms are still not fully understood, says Haug.

In the first two years of the pandemic, around 17 million people in Europe were affected by long-standing symptoms of Covid. This is the result of an analysis carried out on behalf of the World Health Organization (WHO). Research suggests that women are twice as likely to develop Long Covid as men. Additionally, the long-term Covid risk increases dramatically after a severe coronary infection that required hospital care.

Hamburg: RKI reports 2,417 new infections

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) recently recorded 2,417 new corona infections in Hamburg. The incidence over seven days is therefore currently 226.9.

7:15 am

Lower Saxony: The seven-day incidence drops to 429.9

For Lower Saxony, the Robert Koch Institute reported a seven-day incidence of new corona infections per 100,000 population of 429.9. This is a significant drop from yesterday’s reading of 474.0. The number of new infections reported is 14,125, but this is the first report from the state health office at RKI since the long weekend.

07:00

RKI: seven-day incidence nationwide at 414

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the nationwide seven-day incidence of 414 new infections per 100,000 population within one week this morning. A week ago the value was 379.6. German health authorities recently reported 133,532 new RKI infections in one day.

06:55

Schleswig-Holstein: Crown incidence increases to 361.5

In Schleswig-Holstein, a coronary incidence of 361.5 new infections per 100,000 population was recorded in one week. The seven-day incidence increased from the previous week from 326.4 a week ago. The number of people currently being treated in the state’s ICU in relation to a corona infection has increased significantly: there are 54 patients with a corona infection, a week earlier they were 18. However, it is not known if the people were admitted to the ward due to coronary infection or other diseases.

Note on current data: The incidence values do not provide a complete picture of the infectious situation. Experts assume a large number of cases not registered by RKI, mainly because not all infected people have performed a PCR test. However, only positive PCR tests are included in the official statistics. Furthermore, delayed recordings or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values. In general, the number of new infections recorded varies significantly from weekday to weekday, as many federal states do not report them to RKI, especially on weekends, and report their cases throughout the week.
