The spread of the Corona virus in German increasingly fierce. The country’s disease control agency says 76,414 new cases COVID-19 reported in a day on Friday (26/11) local time, a new record.
As reported Associated PressOn Saturday (11/27/2021), the infectious disease center of the Robert Koch Institute said Germany also recorded 357 new deaths from COVID-19 as of Friday (11/26/2021), bringing the total deaths since the start of the outbreak to 100,476.
Even so, the German government refuses to support calls for a quick lockdown to control the situation corona virus which is deteriorating in the country, which puts hospitals under severe stress.
German Minister of Health Jens Spahn says contact between people needs to be sharply reduced. He warned that “the situation is dramatically serious, more serious than at any point in the pandemic.”
However, he declined to say whether he would support the sweeping restrictions seen during the earlier stages of the pandemic, when schools, non-essential shops and other areas of public life were closed.
Responding to the new variant COVID-19 named Omicron, which has spread across South Africa, Spahn said airlines arriving from there would only be able to transport German nationals. The tourists must also be quarantined for 14 days whether they are vaccinated or not, he said.
“The last thing we need is to bring in a new variant that will cause more problems,” he said.
