Vaccination in Hamburg should pick up speed: As soon as enough vaccines are delivered, vaccinations could be carried out in practically every family doctor’s practice in the city, says association boss Jana Husemann in an interview with NDR 90.3.
Husemann does the math: There are around 1,300 family doctors in Hamburg. If most of them were to vaccinate 20 people a day, that would be around 20,000 vaccinations a day – and thus significantly more than is possible in the vaccination center in the exhibition halls.

Hope to start in April
The eye of the needle is currently still the vaccine – the general practitioners’ practices would apparently be ready.

At the beginning of April, so the hope of the head of the Hamburg General Practitioner Association, things could start. Until then, the time must be used to clarify all organizational questions – for example, how the vaccine gets into the practice. The bureaucratic effort for family doctors should be as small as possible. The plan is for you to be able to quickly enter all the important information about the vaccination in an Internet form.
The Hamburg hospital group Asklepios says it can also take vaccinations, said a company spokesman for NDR 90.3.
AstraZeneca delivery for Hamburg delayed
The federal government expects significantly more vaccine for the second quarter. However, things are still not going smoothly: A delivery of AstraZeneca vaccine for a good 24,000 doses announced for last week has still not arrived in Hamburg by Monday evening.
