Cooperative Banks in Kerala: Non-compliance of Reserve Bank and Central Govt Rules

Thiruvananthapuram ∙ BJP state general secretary M. T. Ramesh said that cooperative banks in Kerala are not following Reserve Bank rules and central rules. What justification does the state government have for not implementing the uniform software implemented in the entire country in Kerala? The law requires that transactions above 20 lakhs be subject to strict conditions. But this law is not followed in the state.

The Chief Minister and Cooperative Minister should clarify why PAN card is not made mandatory in cooperative banks. When Pancard is mandatory for all banking transactions, why are cooperative banks here not complying? State government and CPM are complicit in illegal transactions. That is why it is possible to invest crores without anyone knowing. The state is taking a crooked path by saying that we are a society without following the banking rules.

On what basis can the government, which depends on cooperative banks even to pay welfare pensions, now pay the debt of the fraud committed in the cooperative banks? Can the state government stand as a guarantee for the plunder committed by the CPM leaders? The government is sacrificing the cooperative movement for nepotism. BJP is not against cooperative banks. But CPM-controlled banks are opposed to money laundering.

How can there be crores of deposits in only some cooperative banks in Kerala? Foreign bigwigs launder their black money through cooperative banks. Even at the end of March when the annual inspection takes place, transactions of crores are taking place in many co-operative banks. A large amount of money flowed into Kerala after demonetisation. Check this out. Forensic auditing should be conducted in cooperative banks in Kerala. Irregularities in the cooperative sector should be investigated by the CBI.

CPM State Secretary MV Govindan says that ED is paving the way for Suresh Gopi in Thrissur. The ED is investigating the complaints of the fraud victims, not the BJP. Govindan should clarify whether CPM leaders A.C.Moiteen and M.K.Kannan are paving the way for Suresh Gopi. What scares Govinda is the realization that even CPM cadres will participate in the march led by Suresh Gopi. Ramesh asked if your hands are clean then why are you afraid of investigation.

English Summary: BJP State General Secretary MT Ramesh said that cooperative banks in Kerala are not following Reserve Bank rules and Central Govt’s rules.
