Military pensioners rally near the Cabinet of Ministers

The government decided to increase the minimum pension for military pensioners, as well as introduce allowances.

The Cabinet of Ministers at a meeting on Wednesday, July 14, decided to increase pensions for veterans and military pensioners.

According to Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, almost 400 thousand people will receive monthly cash allowances of 2 thousand hryvnias, and the minimum pension for military pensioners will be 3854 hryvnias.

In addition, it provides for an increase in payments for combatants who have lost their ability to work.

According to the decree, UAH 5.3 billion will be allocated from the state budget for those dismissed from military service in July-December 2021.

As noted in the explanatory note to the project, after the recalculation of pensions to former servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2018, their pensions were not indexed due to the lack of an appropriate mechanism, and the disparity in the size of pensions, depending on the time of their appointment, is more than 70%.

During the meeting, the prime minister instructed the deputy minister of social policy to go out to the protesters and report to them on the fulfillment of their demands.
