Constabulary investigates theft of iPhones worth 3 million euros NOW

The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee announced on Tuesday that it had started an investigation into a cargo theft of iPhones worth 3 million euros. The phones were stolen on March 14 from a company at Schiphol-Rijk, adjacent to the airport.

The military police are late know that the 35-year-old driver who picked up the phones, which he probably did with forged freight documents, was arrested a day after the theft.

Research has also shown that the load of iPhones has probably been transhipped or unloaded in Edam. “It is also clear that shortly after the theft, several stolen telephones were activated in the Netherlands,” the military police said.

The Marechaussee assumes that in addition to the driver, who has now been released, one or more persons from various companies have helped with the theft.

Schiphol has often been the target of cargo thefts. In May of this year, 4,400 Apple Watches were stolen from the shed of a freight company on the Schiphol grounds. Last summer, 3 million euros worth of electronics was stolen.
