Confusion Issues of Underground Movement Ferdy Sambo’s Verdict, Police Open Voice

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Indonesian National Police (Police) open a voice to the issue “underground movement” to influence a judgment or verdict against Freddy Sambo and friends.

Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) Public Relations of the Indonesian National Police, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, emphasized that the case was beyond the authority of the National Police.

“I think that stage is no longer an investigative process, it is no longer the domain of the Police’s duties, because the Police’s duties have passed and currently the process is in court,” Ramadhan said at the National Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Wednesday (25/1/2023).

Ramadhan also stressed that the case had nothing to do with Polri investigators.

“I think we have passed the investigation stage, it is no longer the authority of Polri investigators,” he stressed.

The issue of the underground movement was initially conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD.

It is known that Ferdy Sambo was the defendant along with his wife, Putri Candrawathi, two aides Richard Eliezer Pudihang Lumiu or Bharada E and Ricky Rizal or Bripka RR, and one household assistant (ART) named Strong Ma’ruf.

Mahfud MD mentioned that the movement was a guerrilla. There were those who asked for Ferdy Sambo to be punished, there were also those who asked for the former Head of the Propam Division to be released.

“I have heard that there are movements asking for, ordering, the Sambo verdict in letters, there are also those who ask for it in numbers,” said Mahfud at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Jakarta, Thursday (19/1/2023).

“There are guerrillas, there are those who want Sambo to be released, there are those who want Sambo to be punished, right? But we can secure that, at the prosecutor’s office, I can assure you that the prosecutor’s office is independent,” said Mahfud.

Mahfud guaranteed that law enforcement officers would not be affected. Although he also heard that the guerrillas were high-ranking defense and security officials.

The former Constitutional Court (MK) judge asked anyone who has information regarding the “underground movement” to report to him.

“Some say about a Brigadier General approaching A and B, who is the Brigadier General? Call me, I will have a Major General later. There are many, if you have a Major General who wants to put pressure on the court or the prosecutor’s office, I have Lejten here,” said Mahfud.

“I am sure that the independent prosecutor’s office will not have any influence on these “underground movements,” he said.

The five defendants in the alleged premeditated murder case of Brigadier J have undergone trial for prosecution.

In essence, the prosecutor considered the five defendants guilty of committing the crime of murder against Yosua which was premeditated as stipulated and threatened in the indictment of Article 340 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code.

Strong Ma’ruf, became the first defendant to undergo trial on Monday (16/1/2023). Strongly charged with imprisonment for 8 years. After Strong, it was Ricky Rizal or Bripka RR’s turn to undergo a trial for prosecution. Like Strong, the former adjutant of Ferdy Sambo was charged with 8 years in prison.

After a day or Tuesday (17/1/2023), a trial of charges against the defendant Ferdy Sambo was held. the former Kadiv Propam Polri was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Next, Ferdy Sambo’s wife, Putri Candrawathi, underwent a trial for prosecution on Wednesday (18/1/2023). The prosecutor demanded that Putri be imprisoned for 8 years.

Finally, Richard Eliezer underwent a trial on Wednesday (18/1/2023) afternoon. The Brimbob member with the rank of Bhayangkara Dua (Bharada) was charged with 12 years in prison.
