Complete closure of the A3 near Würzburg for construction work

In the construction site between Würzburg-Heidingsfeld and Würzburg / Randersacker, the traffic management is to be changed from Sunday evening 8 p.m. to Monday morning 6 a.m. According to the Autobahn Directorate North Bavaria, the tank and rest areas in Würzburg South and North are therefore also closed.

For the construction work on the route towards Frankfurt / Main, traffic is expected to roll in both directions continuously on the Nuremberg lane until the end of the year. This also requires work in the so-called Katzenberg Tunnel, which is only possible if the route is fully closed. Diversions would be signposted.

Much traveled motorway section

Between Aschaffenburg and the Biebelried motorway junction (district of Kitzingen), the motorway is to become six-lane over a length of 94 kilometers. According to the Autobahn Directorate, 89 kilometers have already been completed. Another 80 kilometers in the direction of Fürth / Erlangen are to be expanded and will be accessible in 2025.

Around 80,000 vehicles use the A3 in Lower Franconia every day. Around Würzburg, Aschaffenburg and Nuremberg it can be up to 100,000 on some days. The busy motorway has been a permanent construction site for years.
