Commenting on Hajj Costs, Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi touched on BPKH’s performance which is not yet optimal

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The government and Commission VIII DPR RI have agreed on a regular Hajj fee amounting to IDR 93,410,286.

Responding to the cost of the Hajj, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) provided an opinion on the amount of the Cost of Organizing the Hajj Pilgrimage (BPIH) in 1445 H/2024 AD.

According to the Deputy Chair of the MUI Wantim, Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi, this figure is quite proportional, meaning that the Bipih or cost burden that must be borne by the Hajj pilgrims with subsidies from the benefit value is quite balanced.

Of this amount, the amount of Bipih is IDR 56,046,172 (60%) and the benefit value is IDR 37,364,114 (40%). “In our view, the BPIH scheme must pay attention to two aspects, namely justice and sustainability,” said Zainut, quoted from JPNN, Friday (1/12).

The composition of Hajj Travel Costs (Bipih) borne by the congregation and the use of the benefit value must be calculated proportionally and fairly.

This is intended to ensure that the value of the benefits that are the rights of all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims, including those still queuing for departure, are not eroded.

“We all need to know that the value of these benefits does not only belong to the congregation who departed this year, but to all the congregation who have paid the initial deposit and they are still waiting in the queue to leave for up to 40 years,” he said.

As is known, the use of benefit value funds from 2010 to 2022 continues to increase.

The use of the benefit value has reached up to 59% in 2022 because Saudi Arabia has significantly increased public service fees ahead of the start of Hajj operations in 2022/1443 AH when Hajj pilgrims have already paid their Bipih. MUI believes that conditions like this are no longer normal.
