Colruyt Group takes over data supplier Daltix

Colruyt Group takes a majority stake in the Belgian data specialist Daltix. In this way, Colruyt wants to expand its ‘real-time’ insights into price and consumer behavior, while Daltix hopes to realize its international growth ambitions.

“Data and information management is crucial”

Colruyt Group takes a 65% interest in data specialist Daltix, for an undisclosed amount. In time, the supermarket group can even increase its participation to 100%. After all, Colruyt says that it has been investing heavily in the creation, processing and interpretation of data for a long time.

Colruyt previously worked with its own data division, which continuously registers prices and creates personalized folders. Daltix is specialized in real-time insights in price, promotion, product information and assortment. In the future, both teams will work closely together and exchange knowledge.

“To bring simplicity into retail for the customer, which is and remains our mission, it is best to start from a good relationship with a solid knowledge of the customer’s expectations. Strengthening the relationship with the customer, that is what it is about. And good data and information management can then play a crucial role, “explains Stefan Goethaert, director of retail services at Colruyt Group.

Thanks to the investment, Daltix can realize its international growth ambitions and further deepen its data expertise in the retail sector. CEO Jonas Deprez is therefore satisfied: “The collaboration with Colruyt Group means for us an enrichment of our retail knowledge, which will also benefit our other external retail customers.” Among those customers are also sector colleagues from Colruyt, but the data player promises to have taken measures before the transaction to ensure the confidentiality of the customer data.
