The health crisis put an end to the municipal election which remains unfinished in Colomiers. While the majority continued municipal management, the opposition has not been able to exercise its role for several months. Reflection on the possibility of holding the second round next month, gives elected officials and candidates reasons to express themselves again and to be talked about again. At the initiative of city councilor Laurent Laurier, also a candidate on the “Dare another story” list, led by Damien Laborde, seven opposition politicians have just decided to pay their monthly compensation of € 70 to associations in the city. “The Covid-19 crisis has not made it possible to renew the municipal council and we continue to collect compensation from elected officials”, jointly express Isabelle Amar, Richard Cuartero, Joselito Fury, Med Kechidi, Damien Laborde, Laurent Laurier and Alain Refalo. “We have taken the decision to donate them entirely to the columinal solidarity associations every month until the installation of a new municipal council.” A gesture that is welcome for Secours Populaire, the Amicale des garbage collectors, the Meeting Point for the unemployed and precarious, as well as Secours Catholique, beneficiaries of this aid.

Elected also from the opposition and head of the list “Living better together in Colomiers”, Patrick Jimena prefers to launch a call for citizen and political union in Colomiers.
“This deadly health crisis is causing a massive economic and social crisis in a cascade in a period where climate change is still just as important,” said the elected official, in a press release. “Faced with this situation, I propose to bring together all the intelligences, all the energies that create solutions so that our city is truly up to the situation. At other difficult times in our history, women and men have known show their capacity to surpass themselves to act and resist. In our turn to show a new path to adapt and make our city, a resilient city by calling for the union of the political forces of Colomiers who will recognize themselves in the defense of public services, the creation of new local solidarities to leave no one behind, the ecological transition, a local economy carrying new jobs and a renewed democracy to mobilize all the citizen forces.
