New York Stocks: Positive start to a mediocre week on the stock market | 09/10/21

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – At the end of a moderate stock market week, the US stock exchanges rose once on Friday. The news that China’s President Xi Jinping and his US counterpart Joe Biden spoke on the phone again for the first time in seven months should serve as a support for the course. The fact that US producer prices rose a little more than expected in August had no noticeable impact on share prices.

The leading index Dow Jones Industrial (Dow Jones 30 Industrial) was quoted in early trading with plus 0.02 percent to 34,886 points and is thus heading towards a minus of 1.4 percent on a weekly basis. The broader S&P 500, riddled with more technology stocks, advanced by 0.20 percent to 4502.20 points on Friday.

The technology-heavy NASDAQ 100 was not too far below its record high, which was only reached three days ago, with an increase of 0.60 percent to 15,654.56 points./ajx/zb
