The mug shot of a suspected pedophile, which the Cologne police published on Tuesday, was taken head-on and of the best quality. No wonder that the person wanted from Bochum was identified the next day (March 24th). Ralf N. (32) from Cologne had filmed him and handed over the recordings to the investigators.

The two men created fake profiles pretending to be a 13-year-old girl. Among other things on Snapchat, Tik-Tok and Knuddels. “We behave passively,” explains Ralf N. Nevertheless, adult men regularly write to her very young decoy – sometimes with disgusting sex offers and penis photos.

“The guy from Bochum, for example, wanted to eat her,” says Ralf N. The suspect is said to have sent sexualized chat messages to the allegedly 13-year-old and finally to meet her in June 2020 for sexual acts at Gelsenkirchen-Hassel train station. He is said to have been all the more astonished when instead of a 13-year-old Ralf N. and his buddy approached him, confronted him and filmed him with body cams.

“He is only one of 10 that we have already filmed,” explains Ralf N. The Cologne native actually works as an employee in the logistics area.

He and his friend started the hunt for alleged pedophiles last year, when the series of child abuse became known in Bergisch Gladbach, among others. Ralf N .: “Almost every day one read about sexual assault on children. We wanted to turn the tables. “

In addition, he has an eleven-year-old niece and a seven-year-old nephew who are also active at Tik-Tok. “What I read there – I just get angry,” he says.

Ralf N. and his buddy pass their information on to the police. Chat history of her decoy with alleged pedophiles, video recordings of her bodycams, but also car license plates and cell phone numbers.

“We are currently writing with 132 people,” reveals N. All grown men who think that there is actually a 13-year-old girl behind the profile …

“We are aware that our actions are dangerous. Therefore we ask not to do the same, ”appeals Ralf N. The police also strongly advise against investigations on your own.

“We are obliged to prosecute if we get a tip,” explains Wolfgang Baldes, spokesman for the Cologne police. According to the experienced investigator, however, it is dangerous if a confrontation with a suspect is planned: “On the other hand, your own investigations can endanger ongoing proceedings by the police and public prosecutor’s office.”
