Cologne – Death on the track! At the Ehrenfeld station, a woman (29) was run over and killed by a train on Thursday evening.
The woman fell into the track bed around 7 p.m. and was run over by an incoming train. She died at the scene of the accident.
Witnesses reported that the 29-year-old had stumbled onto the tracks before the fatal accident, a spokeswoman for the federal police said. It was initially unclear whether the woman had celebrated Carnival herself on Women’s Fast Night. The autopsy should also clarify whether it was under the influence of alcohol.
The fire brigade said that the train that had rolled over the woman had been completely cleared. Eyewitnesses had to be looked after by the emergency services.
A total of more than 40 helpers with 15 vehicles were deployed. Numerous regional trains were canceled in the evening due to the emergency doctor on the track.
